Apple Creek Parent Involvement Policy

Apple Creek Elementary

Title I Parent Involvement Policy

2025-2026

Apple Creek Elementary has made the commitment to provide quality education for every child and to establish strong partnerships with parents. Shared responsibility for high student performance, frequent communication and ongoing parental involvement is an essential component for assuring academic success for our students.

Apple Creek is required to have an annual parent meeting to inform parents of our school’s participation as a Title I site, its requirements, and the rights of parents to be involved in their child’s education.  All parents will be invited and encouraged to attend our Back to School Night and grade level meetings, which will be scheduled during the first few weeks of school.  Apple Creek Title I programs, services and goals will be discussed, and information will be sent home with parents.  Both the district and site Parent Involvement Policies will be shared with parents through ParentSquare, our school website, and Peachjar.  Information about availability and start up dates of Title I programs/activities will be communicated to parents through special notes concerning these programs/activities.

A description and explanation of the curriculum and assessments used to monitor student progress in each grade will be offered during parent/teacher conferences, which will be held in October and in March of each school year.  Parents are strongly encouraged to attend conferences with their child’s teacher to participate in decisions relating to their child’s education.

A School-Parent-Student Compact will be jointly developed, reviewed, and updated with parents on a yearly basis.  This compact defines the responsibilities of each party and stresses the importance of teachers, students, and parents working together.  Compacts will be sent home with each student at the beginning of each school year, signed by all parties, and returned to the child’s teacher.

Apple Creek maintains communication between school and home in a variety of ways which may include our school newsletter, Parent Portal, Peachjar, ParentSquare, our school website, social media, assignment notebooks, and school notes and flyers.  Through scheduled planned conferences and activities, parents will have reasonable access to staff and will be given the opportunity to volunteer, observe and participate in classroom activities.  We have been able to access helpful translation sites on the internet to help us communicate with our parents who have limited English skills.  We also have access to a Spanish interpreter when needed.

Parents will be involved each spring in the planning, reviewing, and revising of Apple Creek’s Title I Schoolwide Plan, as well as this Parent Involvement Policy, and will have free access to both.  Parents have the right to submit comments/concerns to the school district if they feel that either the School-wide Plan or Parent Involvement Policy is not satisfactory.  A Needs Assessment and Program Evaluation Survey will be given to parents each spring.  The survey results will be utilized in conjunction with assessment data to guide the revision of the plan for the following year.
