Apple Creek Parent Involvement Policy
Apple Creek Elementary
Title I Parent Involvement Policy
2024-2025
Apple Creek is required to have an annual parent meeting to inform parents of our school’s participation as a Title I site, its requirements, and the rights that parents have to be involved in their child’s education. Title I programs, services and goals will also be discussed. This annual meeting will be open to all parents and will be held during the first few weeks of school. Both the district and site Parent Involvement Policies will be discussed at this meeting. These policies will be shared with parents through Peachjar.
Apple Creek will offer a flexible schedule of meetings to accommodate parent schedules. Child-care may be provided during meetings to allow parents an opportunity for complete participation.
A description and explanation of the curriculum and assessments used to monitor student progress in each grade will be offered during parent/teacher conferences, which will be held in October and in March of each school year. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend conferences with their child’s teacher to participate in decisions relating to their child’s education.
A School-Parent-Student Compact will be jointly developed, reviewed, and updated with parents on a yearly basis. This compact defines the responsibilities of each party and stresses the importance of teachers, students, and parents working together. Compacts will be sent home with each student at the beginning of each school year, signed by all parties, and returned to the child’s teacher.
Apple Creek maintains communication between school and home in a variety of ways such as our school newsletter, Parent Portal, Peachjar, MPS mobile app, our school website (contains links to individual class sites), Social Media, assignment notebooks, and school notes and flyers. Through scheduled planned conferences and activities, parents will have reasonable access to staff and will be given the opportunity to volunteer, observe and participate in classroom activities. We have been able to access helpful translation sites on the internet to help us communicate with our parents who have limited English skills. We also have access to a Spanish interpreter when needed.
Parents will be involved each spring in the planning, reviewing, and revising of Apple Creek’s Title I School-wide Plan, as well as this Parent Involvement Policy, and will have free access to both. Parents have the right to submit comments/concerns to the school district if they feel that either the School-wide Plan or Parent Involvement Policy is not satisfactory. A needs Assessment and Program Evaluation Survey will be given to parents each spring. The survey results will be utilized in conjunction with assessment data to guide the revision of the plan for the following year.
